Hometown

Everyone wants to get out of their small town. However, very few actually make it out. Out of the few that do very few stay out of it. Most somehow make their way back. Why is this? Does it have to do with money, motivation, small town mentality, expectations, lack of expectations, or something else? I don't understand.
